“IT’S WHAT WE ARE,

BUT IT WASN’T WHAT

WE WERE”

Brad Green’s life growing up was always described by him as “interesting”. He didn’t have a particular fondness for school where he grew up in Hainault, Essex. His father, Guitarist Mick Green was in the hit British rock band Johnny Kidd & The Pirates and was credited with having influenced Pete Townsend, who notes that Originally “The Who” had originally formed as a “Pirates Tribute Band”. Brad spent quite of lot of time at gigs and festivals with his dad whilst he worked with Paul McCartney, Van Morrison and Bryan Ferry. At one point Brad even spent a week at Van Morrison’s house in East Somerset while his dad recorded the album “Back on Top” with him. Coming out of school Brad hadn’t quite formulated a plan yet but within a few years started working at the illustrious Il Bottaccio, back when it was on Grosvenor Place in Mayfair opposite Buckingham Palace. Prior to working with Marco Pierre White, whilst he was at Il Bottaccio he worked on many of the high-end events, including private parties for Paris Hilton and the closing parties for London Fasion Week. Many of these events wanted “2 am Hot Food” available. Brad, was asked by then director Aron Moldovanyi to create a pop-up brand to facilitate hot food to ultra-high-end events, in house at Il Bottaccio. Brad had planned on pop-up “Bradley’s” but at the last minute changed it to “Green’s”. Brad also worked with Marco Pierre White during the changeover from Lucciano’s to Wheelers of St James before taking Marco’s advice to him in 2012 to start his own business. “Just before my dad died in 2010, Marco was incredibly kind to me and my family. Dad was in hospital and we were all struggling a lot with the pressure, he understood, he’d help anyone, at one point he even made sure my mum and my wife had dinner with me at the new Wheelers restaurant and he wouldn’t take a penny for it, I’ll never forget that, you should never think that Marco is nothing other than the nicest guy in the world, because that’s exactly what he is”. In 2013 The first Green’s opened in Southgate to staggering busy start. By 2015 Green’s was now a successful enough business to either purchase another restaurant or franchise. In 2015 Green’s invested in a franchising programme which included a full Trademark for the name. Green’s then built a “Green’s pop-up” in Docklands ExCeL (Picture of this in the gallery) and placed the brand on the franchise market. As a franchise group Green’s opened three sites and by 2019 had secured a deal for a fourth site. Also in 2019 Green’s became the official pop-up for the Polo Finals at the Royal County of Berkshire’s Polo Club. In 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic started and the government forced all restaurants in the UK to close, Green’s decided not to renew any franchising agreements and focus solely on takeaway food served from newly acquired London bases thanks to their close association with Charles Bakker at Remedy Bars. In March of 2022, Green’s has secured a brand-new location, in Dorset, which is due to open in December of 2022. Who knows what the future will bring, but whatever it brings, Green’s wants to bring you fantastic food and fantastic service for many years to come. Thank you for following our journey.
